How to pay less at Midway

The Economy Garage and Lot costs $15 a day less than the cheapest lot you can walk from. It needs the shuttle, so add time for the ride to your terminal. The lots you can walk from, Daily Lot, Daily Garage, cost $30 to $43 a day at the gate.

Midway has the lowest gate price of all five airports we cover: $15 a day, $1 under O’Hare’s economy lots. That gap is small, so choose your Chicago airport by flight, not by parking. The Daily Lot at $30 is the step up if you’d rather walk than ride, and the Hourly Garage starts at $4.

Five nights in Econ Park come to $75 at the gate, and the Daily Lot would be $150. The shuttle is the trade-off, so leave room for it on the way to your flight and on the way back with bags. Five nights there cost less than two nights in the Daily Garage, at $86.

The prices we read on the Midway parking page are drive-up rates, and it showed no lower online rate for these lots. The Economy Garage and Lot is the way to pay less.

Long trips

Our guide to leaving your car at the airport shows what a long stay costs.

Remember where you parked

Airport garages repeat the same colours and numbers on every level. Take a photo of the nearest pillar sign, or save the spot in an app before you walk to the terminal — after a week away, it’s the first thing people forget. A printable park note keeps the level and row on paper.

Back from the trip? Check whether your street is on the Chicago winter parking ban.
